Posted May 13, 2019 07:03:33Australian authorities have found a new avenue to crack down on dangerous criminals using social media platforms, including one who allegedly posted an explicit photo of himself.

He was charged with possessing child pornography, criminal intimidation and publishing obscene material.
Police allege the man shared the photo with others on the social media site Facebook, including a woman who was allegedly under the influence.
“It’s the most dangerous social media application that Australia has to offer, as far as I’m concerned,” Inspector Kevin Anderson said.
“There are no restrictions on what people can post.”
If you’re in the area of Sydney, you can post photos of your house or a street, and it’s not illegal.
“He said the most serious offences were those involving children, but “there are still a lot of kids out there” who were “being groomed”.”
There’s not an amount of content that will get you arrested, but there are a lot,” Inspector Anderson said, adding the images were being shared for “self-expression”.”
What we’re looking at here is an extremely serious case, and we’re trying to make sure we catch the people who are putting themselves at risk.
“The man has been remanded in custody until sentencing on May 27.
