The GOP’s plan to make America’s workforce more attractive to immigrants is dead

President Donald Trump is abandoning his efforts to make American workers more attractive for foreign workers as his administration is looking to cut more than $100 billion from the nation’s workforce.

In a White House statement Monday, Trump announced his administration would instead pursue the more lucrative process of paper cutting, which allows employers to hire workers for jobs that are typically not available in the United States.

The administration announced plans to reduce the number of paper cut jobs to 3.7 million by 2022 from 4.6 million last year, according to the White House Office of Management and Budget.

That would cut the number by almost half from the roughly 30 million jobs currently held by Americans.

Trump has also proposed reducing the number and pay of the top two earners at a time when wages for low-wage workers have stagnated.

He also has proposed cutting funding for vocational and training programs that train the country’s young.
